Twin City Junior Players present ‘A Christmas Carol’ this December

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. — The Twin City Players recently announced its holiday production of the 2015-2016 season, Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” adapted by Larry Nielsen, directed by Timothy Aranyos Jr.

Based on the classic novel by Charles Dickens, this adaptation by Larry Nielsen follows the life of Ebenezer Scrooge and his journey to redeem himself. Told through the eyes of his contemporaries, after his death, we greet characters we know and love and we meet a few new ones along the way. Darkness and mystery become magic and hope in this classic tale about the power of the Spirit of Christmas.

With the goal of encouraging participation in community theater by local youth, the cast of each TCjP production includes students in grades 6-12. Assisting Aranyos are Assistant Director Dave Goodyear, Student Director Kayla Boughner, Stage Manager Jen Ammerman, Set Designer John Taylor, Lead Set Builder Bob Myers, Costume Designer Tammy Green, Sound Designer Bryce McNeill, Lighting Designer Ian Bradford, Dramaturg Paige Smillie and Production Manager Kraig Kirkdorfer.

Performance dates are Dec. 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. This production is sponsored by Whirlpool Corporation.

The cast of A Christmas Carol includes Aidan Kidd Diefenbach as Old Joe/Scrooge, Laura Simmons as Mrs. Dilber/ Christmas Past/Christmas Future, Tabitha Nelson as Charwoman/Marley’s Ghost/Christmas Present, Noah Yardley as Customer 1/Bob Cratchit/Fan/Gent. 2/Husband, Nash Kent as Customer 2/Boy Scrooge/Fred/Sol. 1/Gent. 3/Mr. Fezziwig/Mr. Jorkins, Emily Andrina as Customer 3/Young Scrooge/Sol. 2/Mrs. Fezziwig/Gent. 1/Guest 2, Natalie Smiy as Soloist/Guest 1/Wife, Kiana Bartloff as Martha Cratchit, Antwon Johnson as Peter Cratchit/Dick Wilkins, Darien Scott as Belle/Mrs. Fred, Eirian Mzuka as Tiny Tim/Waif, Roberto Cuadra, Tabitha Hoskins, Maddie Ostenson, Jonah Yardley and Amy Paine as Carolers/Street Families, and Ariel Higgins, Sophia Newland and Skye Scott as Carolers/Street Urchins.

Tickets will be $15 for adults and $12 for seniors. Group rates are also available. All seats are reserved. Reservations can be made by calling the TCP box office at (269) 429-0400. TCP is also offering online ticket purchases at twincityplayers.org. Performance times are 8 p.m. for Friday and Saturday evening performances. Sunday performances will now be held at 2 p.m. All performances take place at the Twin City Players Playhouse located at 600 West Glenlord Road in St. Joseph.

 

Opening night afterglow reception

On opening night, join cast and crew after the show for an Afterglow reception featuring refreshments generously provided by Afterglow partners, Lemon Creek Winery and Bit of Swiss Pastry Shoppe.
