Eddie Money to perform with family at Four Winds

NEW BUFFALO, Mich. — When Eddie Money hits the stage Nov. 20 at The Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds in New Buffalo, there will be a lot of friends sitting in the audience and a few family members sharing the stage.

“I am looking forward to it,” Money said in a telephone interview. “We have a lot friends in the area. In fact the promoter called me and said, ‘Who is this guy Eddie Money who has a bigger guest list than the Rolling Stones?’ We have a lot of fans in that section of the country. It is going to be a lot of fun.”

Earlier this year Money kicked off a series of United States concerts he has affectionately dubbed the “Sound of Money Tour.”

Joining him on this tour is a trio of young performers — they are also his children.

His daughter Jesse is singing background on the tour, while son Dez plays guitar and Julian is on drums.

Money said that since this year is the 50th anniversary of the “Sound of Music,” he thought it was only fitting to pay tribute to his own traveling family.

Performing with family is not quite the same as hitting the road with some of his previous bands.

“They are not as professional as touring with big bands,” Money said. “Jessica is never on time and getting the kids in one place at one time to do something for me is amazing. Now my wife says to me, ‘quit picking on the kids. Who are you, Joe Jackson?’ But really, it is a lot of fun.”

Money enjoys not only performing with his children, but also showcasing their talents on stage each night.

“I never pushed them to be rock stars,” he said. “But they are really talented. Of course I am paying them to perform, which really sucks. I had my record companies pay for my career. Now I have to pay for my sons. I’m not Billy Joel for cripe sakes.

“So how do I like working with the kids? I hate it,” Money said with a laugh.

Fans, friends and family can expect to hear all the hits, such as “Baby Hold On,” “Two Tickets to Paradise,” “Think I’m in Love” and “Shakin,” as well as some newer music.

“I really have to thank God because I have had a long career,” Money said. “I really have a great new record done. I am going to donate a lot of the money from the record to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. So if I put a new record out, I will be able to put some money in the vets’ pockets.”

The album will have about 14 tracks on it, including “One More Soldier,” of which 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the fund.

“So if you want to hear new Eddie Money, I will put it on my website, but I don’t expect to make a lot of money on it.”

Tickets for the Nov. 20 show are still available ranging from $20 to $45 and are available by going to www.fourwindscasino.com.
