Janet Faye Baxter, 68, of Niles, Michigan died on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at her home following an extended illness. She was born November 17, 1946, in Garden City, Michigan to Ralph and Helen (Vandeburg) Vandygriff, Sr.

Janet attended Niles Schools and enjoyed ice skating and going to the movies as a youth. As an adult, she and her husband managed the Corral Bar in Niles, where they were well known and gained loyal customers. She also enjoyed playing BINGO, going to yard sales, vegetable and flower gardening with her husband, and role playing with her granddaughter, Bella. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Surviving family includes husband Ronald Baxter of Niles, a daughter, Melinda (Terry) Baxter-Frizzell; a granddaughter, Bella Michelle Allen-Baxter and siblings, Helen Carpenter of Niles, Bill (Brenda) Vandygriff of Apopka, Florida, Ralph (Patty) Vandygriff, Jr. of South Bend and David (Debbie) Vandygriff of Niles.

Janet was preceded in death by her son, Sean Baxter in 2001.

A Prayer Service for Janet Faye Baxter will be at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at the Halbritter Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior.
