Ervin Darwin Carpenter, 76 of Niles, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at his home.

Erv was born on May 20, 1939, to the late Gordon and Florence Carpenter in Mishawaka, Indiana. On Nov. 21, 1969, he married Helen at a ceremony in South Bend, Indiana. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen; children, Deborah (Dennis) Sied, Darwin Carpenter, Ervin (Laurie) Carpenter Jr.-Flint, Penny (Nick) Capron, Freddie Weiser, Louise Riggs and Becky (Mike) Martyniuk; brothers, Donald and Robert; sisters, Reatha and Shirley and numerous beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Erv was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lavern, Devon, Richard, Marvin and sister Dorthea.
Cremation has taken place. The family will have a celebration of life for Erv at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
