BENTON HARBOR — The PGA of America announced today that a limited number of volunteer positions remain for the 77th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.

The championship is seeking nearly 2,000 individuals to volunteer for the 2016 Championship, which will be held at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, over Memorial Day Weekend, May 24-29.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid and help us deliver a spectacular experience for fans, players, sponsors and guests,” Ryan Ogle, championship director said. “We rely on volunteers from Southwest Michigan, Northwest Indiana and nationwide to create a welcoming environment for fans and a memorable major championship experience for the players. We look forward to working side by side with all of our generous volunteers this spring.”

The PGA of America manages 27 unique volunteer committees, ranging from the marshal committee to corporate hospitality services, caddie registration and scoring.

Volunteer positions are filling quickly and only a few committees remain.

The greatest number of available volunteer opportunities fall into four committees: contestant evacuation, contestant transportation, leader boards and thru boards and marshals. Volunteers in the contestant evacuation and contestant transportation committees will assist with transportation services for players and caddies during championship week. Leader boards and thru boards volunteers will operate manual scoreboards throughout the golf course while marshals will receive inside-the-ropes access to assist with gallery control and helping players spot errant golf shots.

All volunteers are encouraged to spend a maximum of 16 hours (four, four-hour shifts) on-site during championship week and will receive daily access to the Championship. Volunteer training sessions, along with uniform and credential distribution, will take place in the spring.

The volunteer package includes a Ralph Lauren volunteer uniform, meal and water vouchers, a one-time discount to the Championship Shop, a personalized volunteer credential which allows access to the grounds for all six days of the championship including access to the 19th Hole, a special viewing area and one round of golf at Harbor Shores (must be redeemed by Nov. 1, 2016).

Junior volunteer positions, for those aged 14-21, are still available. Juniors receive the same package as adults and are asked to help as standard bearers during the championship. Standard bearers carry a small scoreboard that displays player’s scores in their group. Juniors in this committee will receive inside-the-ropes access and walk side-by-side with the best players in senior golf.

Interested volunteers can register online at www.SrPGA.com or by calling Volunteer Operations Manager Rachel Wright at (269) 487-3200.

The Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid is the most historic and prestigious senior major and features the game’s greatest players over age 50. The 2016 Championship marks the third time that Harbor Shores will host the competition, following the 2012 and 2014 Championships.

Daily grounds tickets to 2016 Senior PGA Championship range from $15 to $30. For more information about the 77th Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, and to purchase tickets, visit SrPGA.com.
