Results released from Niles Optimist pumpkin race

The Niles-Buchanan YMCA partnered with the Niles District Library and Niles Noon Optimist Club to host Saturday’s fall festival.

Activities included the library’s costume contest, the Optimist Club’s 4th annual Pumpkin Race, hayrides, balloon animals, a bounce house, Halloween treats, and other activities by a variety of organizations including the Niles Service League.

The Niles Noon Optimist Club awarded trophies in five categories during the Pumpkin Race. Winners were: Travis Boykin, Best Engineered Pumpkin; Violet Pugh, Pumpkin Only A Mother Could Love; Emily Ludwig, Scariest Pumpkin; Naylee Shidler, Cutest Pumpkin; and Dax Howell, Best Coordinated Pumpkin.
Aarika Morse, 9, of Niles was the winner of the 2015 Pumpkin Race. Niles Optimist member Pat Kelley, who also judged the pumpkin contest, presented her with a trophy.
