Heading into Friday night’s final regular season home game, the goal of the host Cassopolis Rangers was to lock up a spot in the postseason and win the outright BCS Athletic Conference White Division championship.

It took Cassopolis just eight offensive plays to score five touchdowns to open up a 35-6 first quarter lead en route to a 69-6 victory.

The win improved the Rangers to 6-2 on the season, earning an automatic qualifying spot in the MHSAA playoffs. Cassopolis also won the outright White Division championship with a 4-0 mark.

After recovering a short kick at its own 49-yard line to open the game, Shan Los tossed a 51-yard touchdown pass to Mica Welch to make it 7-0 just five seconds into the game.

The Rangers forced a three-and-out on Bronson’s first possession and after a short punt, Brandon Anderson scored the first of his two touchdowns, this one a 31-yard run to make it 14-0.

Anderson would pick off an interception on the Vikings’ next offensive possession and three plays later, A.J. Green scored on a 35-yard run to make it 21-0 with 7:44 remaining in the opening quarter.

Bronson finally got things going on its third offensive possession as the Vikings drove down the field and scored on a seven-yard Kyle Roberts run.

The Rangers needed just one play following the ensuing kickoff to get those seven points back.

Anderson, who finished with 102 yards, scored on a 71-yard run to make it 28-6 with 3:47 still left in the first quarter.

The two teams would exchange turnovers following Anderson’s touchdown.

Bryce Saxton intercepted a Bronson pass before the Rangers fumbled at the 1-yard line. On the next play, Bronson fumbled at the 5-yard line giving the Cassopolis the ball back with another chance to score.

The Rangers would need one play as Marquise Curtis went untouched into the end zone from 5-yards out to make it 35-6 with 3:09 left in the first quarter.

The scoring continued in the second quarter as Saxton hauled in a 29-yard touchdown pass from Los, Nick Baker scored on a 2-yard run and Saxton completed the first half scoring with a 10-yard touchdown reception from Los to make it 55-6 at halftime.

With the running clock in place, Green scored on a 30-yard run in the third quarter and Alex Emerson scored from a yard out to complete the scoring.

Cassopolis finished with 282 yards rushing and 125 yards passing. Green added 73 yards and Curtis 31 yards to the Rangers’ ground game.

Los was 4-of-4 with three touchdowns.

Bronson finished the night with 124 yards rushing and 69 passing as the Vikings were 5-of-20 with four interceptions.

Cole Houtz led the ground game with 61 yards.
