Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital will break ground in November on creating a new entryway, along with the start of interior renovations at its High Street patient registration entrance.

The renovations will include reconfiguring traffic flow and parking lots to improve the ability to drop off patients closer to the building. A large vestibule will be built that will improve temperature control in the registration area and provide easier access to wheelchairs. The registration area will also be reconfigured to improve workflow to speed up the registration process, while improving patient privacy and wheelchair access to registration stations.

“We are excited to get this project going,” said John Ryder, chief operating officer at Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital. “The renovations when completed will strengthen the care we provide to patients, and reinforce our commitment to be the destination of healing for area residents.”

The project is part of Borgess-Lee’s “It’s About the Place We Call Home” capital campaign. The two-year, $1 million campaign — $500,000 from the Lee Memorial Foundation, and a matching $500,000 from Borgess Health — began in 2014 and focuses on interior and exterior renovations, as well as purchasing state-of-the-art medical and surgical equipment.
