Lorraine Mary Huston, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at her home in Dowagiac.

Cremation has taken place, per Lorraine’s wishes. A Visitation for family and friends with a time of sharing will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac. A private burial will take place alongside her husband at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia Society of America, Michigan Chapter, 1421 East 12 Mile RD., Madison Heights, MI 48071. Lorraine was born on Dec. 19, 1927, in South Bend, Indiana to Albert & Sophie (Byrus) Joachim. At an early age of 14 she was forced to help her siblings by working and helping to provide for them after the loss of her mother. Lorraine married Donald Huston in South Bend, Indiana on April 9, 1948. They spent many happy years together raising three children until his death in 1979. Lorraine enjoyed the simple things in life. She worked hard for all she had and spent over 35 years at the Rudy Manufacturing Company (later known as Sunstrand) in Dowagiac as a factory worker. She was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Later in life Lorraine became a huge Notre Dame fan, under the coaching of Ara Parseghian, and loved the Irish football team.

Lorraine is survived by one son and two daughters; Dennis Huston of Grand Rapids, Terri (Kevin) Duerinck of Rochester, NY and Gail Huston of Dowagiac. She also leaves behind five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Lorraine is also survived by one brother, George Albert Joachim of South Bend, Indiana. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and one sister.
