Our Father’s Family Keeper Ministries undertook a enormous project this summer, trying to provide a six-week quality summer enrichment program that embodied academics, child-care for working parents and a heavy dose of fun for the students.

Dare we say that experience is now in our rear-view mirror, and we have the local and surrounding communities to thank for helping make it such as success?

We want to thank our super teaching staff; all of our super involved volunteers, Cassopolis Public School Administration for allowing the use of Sam Adams Elementary School, Ruth Andrews who facilitated book writing sessions, along with area banks and services like the Village of Cassopolis, Junior Achievement and MSU Extension Services who allowed their employees days off to lead valuable life-skills lessons for our students; and those who saw our need and stretched to make our program happen, especially the Cassopolis food services program who extended their services to Fridays to accommodate our student body. Businesses like Home Depot supplied materials for our service-learning projects and Harding’s allowed us to paint an exterior wall of their store and give flowers (contributed by Pastor Steve and Martha Kaszar) potted by our summer school students, to Harding’s customers, thanking them for being a part of our community. There are too many to name them all.

A big “thank you” goes out to our parents, several of whom daily traveled out of their immediate area and to families who entrusted their children to us to transport to and from the summer program. We thank you for the vote of confidence. And we will not forget our students, who came and absorbed what we had to teach and, based on exit surveys, overwhelmingly enjoyed our program.

We look forward to continuing to work to support and strengthen area families and youth and are looking for some determined people to help us in our mission.
