Police searching for men suspected of shooting at Dowagiac residence

Police are searching for a pair of men suspected of shooting at a Dowagiac resident Monday afternoon, according to a  release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

According to police, the incident took place at around 4:20 p.m., when 27-year-old Roy Clark III was visiting his father’s residence on Twin Lakes Road in Wayne Township. As he left the home, he noticed two men attempting to take his father’s motorcycle out of a shed on the property. When Clark confronted the two men and asked what they were doing, one of the men pulled out a small caliber rifle and shot at the Dowagiac man, before fleeing into the woods behind the residence.

Police contained the area as quickly as possible. Two K-9 units and police helicopter from the Selfridge National Guard Air Base, on the east side of the sate, were called in to search for the two suspects. The weapon police believe was used in the incident was recovered in the woods, along with shell casings and bullets.

Clark was not injured in the attack.

One of the suspects was described as a skinny white male, approximately 6 foot 2 inches tall with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a short sleeved camo shirt at the time of the incident. The second male subject was described as a short Hispanic male with short brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a pair of glasses. He was wearing dark jeans and a red/orange hooded shirt.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office were assisted by the Michigan State Police during the incident.
