Brandywine edges Cassopolis in five sets

The Brandywine volleyball team found itself in a battle when they traveled to Cassopolis to face the Rangers Monday night.
The host team came out ready to play, but it was the Bobcats that walked away with the match, winning in five sets 25-17, 17-25, 26-24, 22-25 and 15-12.
After the two teams swapped wins of 25-17 sets to tie the match at 1-1, the third set became an epic battle as both teams kept battling back from deficits.

The Rangers led the set 24-23 serving for the game before eventually falling 26-24.
“We are having trouble finishing games,” Cassopolis coach Demi Schrader said.
The Rangers would regroup and take the fourth set 25-22, but the Bobcats were too much for them in the fifth and final set.
“I’m really proud of how well both teams played tonight,” Brandywine coach Carrie Bidwell said. “Both teams played really hard until the end.”
“I feel like we fought hard but for some reason we just fall apart when we get to that fifth set,” Schrader said about her Rangers.
Olivia DePriest and Sydney Carlson led Brandywine statistically with 11 kills each. DePriest also contributed six blocks, while Carlson added four. Mia Stella led the way with 27 digs and Carlson contributed 20 of her own.
Emily Erwin had 30 assists, and she and Stella each added four aces for the Bobcats.
Maile Barber had 16 kills and four blocks for the Rangers, who also got 10 kills from Jami Suseland and eight kills from Kayla Rowan.
Kaylyn Forrest had 20 digs and 37 assists. Aleighah Ivens and Lynnzee Armstrong had 19 and 15 digs respectively.
