Marie May Walker, 98, of Dowagiac, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at Riverside Cemetery, Dowagiac, with John Burnham officiating. Per her wishes, Mrs. Walker has been cremated and there will be no visitation.

Marie was born March 27, 1917, in Dowagiac, to Jacob and Myrtle (Long) Mangold. Marie was a lifelong Dowagiac resident. She graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1936. Marie married George Walker on May 8, 1947.

She was employed as a sales clerk for many years, starting at Woolworths and finally at Sears.

Surviving Marie are her nephews Michael Mangold, John (Rose) Burnham and Jim Burnham. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, daughter Ann Louise Walker, son Charles Walker, sisters Edith Burnham and Ethel Taylor, brothers Lawrence Mangold and Kenneth Mangold, and nephew Lawrence Burnham.
