“Fairway to the Future” is a golf tournament organized by The Salvation Army of Niles to help raise funds for a community center that will provide enhanced programs and services for local friends and families.

The event will be held Sept. 26 at Hampshire Country Club, located at 29592 Pokagon Highway. Registration, sign-in and a light breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. The event will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.

Corporate sponsorships to support the “Fairway to the Future” event are available in five categories: (Title Sponsor – $2,500 / Gold Sponsor – $1,500 / Silver Sponsor — $1,000 / Bronze Sponsor — $750 / Hole Sponsor — $150). Individual registrations are $75 per golfer and registration is $280 for a team of four golfers. Registrations include green fees, cart and lunch in the clubhouse following the tournament as well as special gifts and prizes.

Registration deadline is Sept. 1.

Registration is available online at http://golf.saniles.org Individuals can also register by mail by sending checks to The Salvation Army of Niles, 424 North 15th Street, Niles, Michigan 49120-0247. Checks should be made payable to The Salvation Army of Niles with “Fairway to the

Future” in the memo field and should accompany the registration form. The public is welcome and encouraged to participate.

Funds raised from the outing will directly support the new community center. When completed, the new facility is expected to offer friends and family a wide variety of programs and services such as:

• Enhanced and expanded after-school education programs

• Children’s Zone and computer lab

• Weekend backpack “Feeding His Sheep” program

• Lunch-and-Learn programs

• Volunteer Coordination program

“The golf tournament is a great way for the local community to get involved, have some fun and support the work of The Salvation Army,” said Major Tracey Walters, Corps Officer. “All money raised at the event will be put to work towards the completion of our new community center. We really see the importance of planning for future needs. Our new community center will allow us to create programs and services that will truly serve the needs of the Niles community for years to come.”
