Bucks fall in Division 3 regional title game

BLOOMINGDALE — The Buchanan Bucks let one get away in the Division 3 regional softball championship game Saturday.

The Bucks (27-9) led Grand Rapids West Catholic 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning of the title game at Bloomingdale.

West Catholic scored four times in the bottom half of the third and added a two-run home run by Brooke Wila to complete the 6-3 come-from-behind victory to win its first regional championship.

The Bucks blanked Fennville 2-0 in the semifinals.

Morgan Richer, Maddie Hemphill and Morgan Lenox all doubled for the Bucks in the title game.

Hemphill suffered the loss.

In the semifinals, Lenox homered and Jade Mosier doubled as the Bucks outhit Fennville 5-2.
