Big inning leads Buchanan to title

BRIDGMAN — A seven-run fifth inning lifted the Buchanan baseball team to a 10-3 over host Bridgman in the Division 3 district championship game Monday.

The game was postponed due to rain Saturday.

With the score deadlocked at 1-1, the Bucks scored seven runs on an RBI singles by Christian Hall, Chad Adkerson, Dalton Riddle and Darren Shearer. Gavin Morris delivered a two-run single before Josiah Smith drove in a run on a groundout.

Both teams scored two runs in the seventh inning to cap the scoring.

Jarrett Thomas picked up the victory as he struck out nine and scattered seven hits.

Morris finished the day with three hits and three RBIs for the Bucks, who will play in the Bloomingdale Regional at noon Saturday against Saugatuck.

Bryce Vineyard, Riddle and Shearer all finished with two hits.
