Local golfers fail to advance out of regionals

BATTLE CREEK — Brandywine and Dowagiac failed to qualify for the Division 3 State Golf Finals this weekend in East Lansing.

Schoolcraft won the regional championship with a 343, while Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian was second with a 345 and Vermontville Maple Valley was the third and final qualifier with a 346.

Dowagiac shot 370 and Brandywine 398.

David Brogan led the Chieftains with an 89.

Alec DeJonge and Chance Smith both shot 89 to lead the Bobcats.

Buchanan’s Ty Lorance shot 102.

The top three teams and the top three individual not on a qualifying team advance to the state finals.
