Pitching leads Niles to sweep of Cassopolis

A pair of solid pitching performances led host Niles to a sweep of Cassopolis in non-conference baseball doubleheader Saturday.

Austin Lintz tossed a one-hitter with nine strikeouts in the Vikings’ 4-0 opening game victory.

Jacob Hamm scattered seven hits and struck out nine as Niles defeated the Rangers 3-1 in the second game.

Bryce Lake had a pair of hits for Niles in the first game.

Lance Shettron was the hard-luck loser as he allowed just four hits.

In the second game, Lake had two more hits for the Vikings.

Dan Duebner finished with two hits for the Rangers.

Justin Smith took the loss for Cassopolis.
