It was a day of mixed results Saturday for the Edwardsburg girls soccer team at its own invitational.

In its first game at the round robin tournament, the Eddies blanked Three Rivers, 3-0. In the final game, Lake Michigan Catholic beat Edwardsburg, 2-0.

“We started out fast in the first game,” said Edwardsurg girls soccer coach Brett Harring, whose team stands at 9-3-1. “I don’t think we made good decisions in between games. We came out flat and lifeless for pretty much an entire 60 minutes for that second game. LMC took it to us and put two goals in.”

Against Three Rivers, Noelle Kraus continued her impressive offensive play this season. Kraus scored twice against the Wildcats and she now has 23 goals on the season.

“In the first game she definitely ran really hard,” Harring said about Kraus.

Jamie Roths added a goal for the Eddies, who outshot Three Rivers, 9-6.

Edwardsburg freshman goalie Hailee Hebard had four saves in posting her third shutout of the year.

It was the second win of the year by the Eddies over the Wildcats. Edwardsburg beat Three Rivers, 2-1, in a Wolverine Conference game.

In its loss to Lake Michigan Catholic, Edwardsburg totaled only five shots on goal. The Lakers had 15 shots.

Brianna Watts and Sarah McCoy each scored in the second half for Lake Michigan Catholic. McCoy’s goal came on a penalty kick.

Trailing 1-0, Kraus had a shot just outside the goalie box hit the crossbar.

“It’s just about showing up for every game and treating every opponent the same and giving the same attitude and effort towards every opponent,”  Harring said. “We definitely do that in the second game.”
