Visiting Lakeshore swept a SMAC West Division softball doubleheader from Niles Tuesday.

The Lancers (24-5) defeated the Vikings (7-16) 4-0 in the first game and 15-3 in the five-inning nightcap.

“We played well in game one and Addison Davies did a great job keeping their batters off balance,” Niles coach Rick McKeel said. “We played great defense just couldn’t string together any key hits. In game two they got their bats going and scored five in the first and two in the second.

“We got our bats going a little in game two and was down 7-3 after two, but couldn’t push any more runs across and they just kept hitting. Credit to Lakeshore, they hit well in game two. I was pleased with our overall performance in game one, we just never got untracked. It’s hard to see on the scoreboard and yet I can tell we are making some strides in the right direction.”

Mackenzie Shields was 2-for-3 with a double in the second game for the Vikings.
