Edwardsburg won all four of its dual meets Tuesday at its own Wolverine Conference quad meet.

In the boys competition, the Eddies beat Dowagiac, 76-51, and Coloma, 71-57. In the girls competition, the Eddies defeated Dowagiac, 85-36, and Coloma, 97-25.

In the other dual meets, Berrien Springs’ boys beat Dowagiac, 90-31, and the Chieftains’ girls beat Berrien Springs, 53-48.

Aubrey Ritchey and Amelia Montgomery were double winners for the Edwardsburg girls team. Ritchey placed first in the 1,600 meters (5:57.01) and 800 meters (2:40.30). Montgomery had first place showings in the 3,200 meters (13:23.07) and 3,200-meter relay (10:58.78). Also on that relay were Brittany Bowman, Brynn Ritchey and Natalie Longo.

Edwardsburg also got a first place time from its 400-meter relay team of Yessenia Merrill, Britanea Carmean, Abbi Nugent and Carly Cockrum (54.44).

“We were looking at some different things,” said Edwardsburg girls track coach Kevin Bartz. “We’re still trying to get all our relays established for the conference meet. We’re looking at where we can pick up the most points so we had a few different people run in different spots. We had a couple injuries at the end, but I don’t think it’s anything serious. Our times have been going down so we’re in good shape right now.”

Nijah Russell was a double winner for the Dowagiac girls team. She placed first in the 100 meters (13.28) and 200 meters (27.55). Teammates that finished first were Jessica Robison in the high jump (4-6), Ciera Smith in the shot put (33-3) and Rosario Murray in the 300-meter hurdles (53.47).

In the boys meet, Edwardsburg got a first place performance from Nathan Brown in the 110-meter hurdles (17.16).

“I think our kids are running hard,” said Edwardsburg boys track coach Jon Pryor. “We’re just trying to get them ready for our conference meet on Friday. We had some good times. Our kids are competing and our relays look good. We’re just hoping that everyone stays healthy and we can be in good shape for this Friday and get them for the regionals the following Friday.”

Finishing first for Dowagiac were Caleb Zimmerman in the 300-meter hurdles (43.18), Leroy Lewis in the high jump (6-0) and Tristan Howard in the shot put (47-2).
