Visiting Edwardsburg took a 2-0 halftime lead and never looked back in handing Dowagiac a 4-1 Wolverine Conference West Division soccer setback Wednesday.

Brittany Udell and Joelly Baldwin scored in the 27th and 36th minutes respectively to give the Eddies a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Noelle Kraus scored a pair of second half goals as the Edwardsburg lead reached 4-0 before Dowagiac got on the scoreboard in the 75th minute on a penalty kick.

Logan McMeeken score the goal for the Chieftains.

Edwardsburg (5-2-1, 2-1 West) got two saves from Hailee Hebard, while Dowagiac (0-9, 0-3) had Grace Younger make 23 saves.

“We are continuing to stay competitive in the games we play,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Haines said. “Eventually it will click, we just have to keep working hard.”

Dowagiac is back in action tonight as it hosts Buchanan in a non-league match scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
