Chieftains drop pair of Coloma

Host Dowagiac dropped a pair of heartbreaking decisions to Coloma in Wolverine Conference West Division baseball Friday.

The Chieftains (1-9, 0-4 West) gave up two runs in the top of the seventh in both games as the Comets (10-5, 4-0 West) swept the doubleheader 4-1 and 2-1.

Caleb Hester picked up the victory for the Comets in the opening game as he tossed a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and no walks.

Brad Page had two of the Comets seven hits off of Matt Smith, who took the loss for the Chieftains.

In the nightcap, Brendan Collins tossed a one-hitter with eight strikeouts for Coloma.

Daquan Brooks took the loss for Dowagiac despite allowing just two runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
