SOUTH HAVEN — The Dowagiac soccer team is still searching for that elusive first victory of the season.

The Chieftains remained winless Wednesday night after falling to host South Haven 2-0 in the Wolverine Conference West Division opener for Dowagiac.

“We are moving in the right direction offensively,” Dowagiac coach Ryan Haines said. “Our defense is continuing to improve and our midfield play is coming around. We have to find ways to put the ball in the back of net.”

Anna Brantley scored what turned out to the winning goal in the 32nd minute off an assist from Bryan Murdock.

Bri Dotson scored the Rams’ second goal in the 80th minute.

Dowagiac (0-6, 0-1 West) got nine saves from Grace Younger.
