Four Flags Garden Club holding spring plant sale

Published 9:34 am Tuesday, April 21, 2015

The Four Flags Garden Club will host a spring plant sale from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9, rain or shine, at the Riverfront Park Amphitheater in downtown Niles.

Club members will be offering established plants for sale from their gardens. Prices will range from $2 for 4-inch pots, with gallon pots at $4 or three for $10. Some prices may vary.

Plant-related decorator items will be available as well. With this being Mother’s Day weekend, it is a perfect time to purchase a gift of outdoor plants.

The event also offers an opportunity to meet local gardeners who enjoy talking about their favorite hobby. They can offer suggestions for what plants would work best in the shade or sun, and what combinations would be unique and appealing.

The Four Flags Garden Club offers an opportunity to anyone who wishes to learn about planting, pruning, landscaping with perennials and annuals, or beautifying specific areas around their home or community.

Maintaining the gardens at the Niles Historic Amtrak Depot is the club’s major community service project.

The group meets monthly on the third Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Niles Law Enforcement Complex.
