A plan is in the works to finally redo parts of Adamsville Road.

Steve Lucas, managing director of the Cass County Road Commission, spoke at the meeting on Monday and said contractor bid day for the project is July 10 and that the project completion date is Sept. 11.

“The project is a mile-and-a-half and the way the project is engineered at this point is consisting of milling off four inches of the existing asphalt and applying four inches of new in three lifts,” Lucas said.

The current project will cover May Street to State Line Road. Next year’s project will cover U.S. 12 to State Line Road.

The project was split in half due to funding and not wanting to drive over the new road with heavy construction equipment.

The south portion project will cost approximately $330,000.

An engineer from the road commission will be with the contractor helping to supervise the project.

In other business, the board:

• Discussed the Eagle Lake Road boating access site. Public expressed worry over traffic, swimming and safety.

• The ambulance board is searching for funds to fix a broken ambulance that is leaving them with only two ambulances.

• Listened to Cynthia Herms of Indiana’s Friends of Cobus Creek who is looking for funding for a comprehensive watershed study from Garver Lake to Cobus Creek. The study would help save one of two cold-water trout streams as well as endangered turtles. They have set up a turtle-breeding program.

• Township Clean-up days are noon to 5 p.m. April 24 and 8 a.m. to noon April 25.

• The public accuracy test for May 5 election is 11 a.m. April 30.

The next meeting is May 11.
