Golf’s future in good hands

Augusta National has long been a place where golfers come to etch their name into the history books.

The 79th Masters was no different.

But what was different is that we were witness to a changing of the guard at the historic golf course.

The days of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are over, although both played fairly well this past weekend.

Stepping forward is the new guard of Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Dustin Johnson and 21-year-old Jordan Spieth, who became the first man to lead the Masters wire-to-wire in 39 years.

If these are the players that are to carry the game forward, golf is in good hands.

I have to admit, I do not watch a lot of golf on television.

I watch the Masters most years and I also enjoy the Ryder and President’s cups.

So my impression of the game comes from a brief sampling. But what I witnessed this weekend at Augusta left me feeling good about
