Wayne Roscoe Owen, 72, of Cassopolis, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 12, 1942, in Cassopolis, Michigan to Frank and Pauline (Sriver) Owen. He married Barbara O. Merrill Sept. 19, 1964, in Cassopolis, Michigan. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Owen, Andrew Owen; and one granddaughter, Madison Owen.

Wayne worked at Mesko’s farm in Cassopolis, Nomad in Elkhart, Cold Storage in Decatur and retired from Duo-Form Manufacturing in Edwardsburg. He was a member of Pleasant View Church of Christ in Cassopolis. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, fishing with his friends, going to stock car racing, watching NASCAR and bowling.

Wayne was a beloved husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa who will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Barbara (Merrill) Owen of Cassopolis; two daughters, Judi (Tony Poarch) of Dowagiac, Diann (Michael Bailey) Owen of Elkhart; four sons, Jonathan (Lorie) Owen of Buchanan, Jimmy Owen of Edwardsburg, Steven Owen of Edwardsburg, Christopher (Jennifer) Owen of Dowagiac; eight grandchildren, Chrissie Cole and Anthony Cole, both of Lake City, Florida, Chyvon (Justin) Lee of Cassopolis, Sierra Owen of Buchanan, Elliott Owen of Edwardsburg, Andrew Owen of Dowagiac, Matthew Owen of Dowagiac; three great grandchildren, R.J. Cole, Natalie Lee, Alivia Lee; two sisters, Lillian Owen of Union, Betty (George) Hall of Dowagiac; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will gather Monday, April 13, 2015, at 4 p.m. for a Celebration of Wayne’s life in Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Road (corner of M 60), Cassopolis with the Reverends Jeff Oliver and Larry Settle officiating.

The family prefers memorial contributions be made in Wayne’s name to Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Road, Cassopolis, Michigan 49031.
