South Bend Clay rallies to beat Eddies

SOUTH BEND — Edwardsburg built an early edge, but host South Bend Clay roared back to steal a 5-4 victory at Clay Monday.

Clay took the lead in the fifth inning on a two-run home run by Aaron Bond.

The Colonials converted a triple play in the fourth inning.

Colin Creve recorded the win for Clay. He allowed four runs over five innings. Creve struck out four, walked four and gave up four hits.

The Colonials sparked by Bond and Keiji Parkhurst, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.

Damion Pompey ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The bottom of the first saw Clay take an early lead, 2-0. Bond doubled to ignite the Colonial’s offense, before Parkhurst homered, scoring Bond.
