Brandywine sweeps Berrien Springs in opener

BERRIEN SPRINGS — The Ron Hartline era in Brandywine softball finally got under way Friday.

The Bobcats had no trouble providing their new coach with his first career victories as they swept host Berrien Springs 12-1 in six innings and 19-0 in three innings.

Hannah Hadden picked up the win for Brandywine in the opening game as she allowed one run on four hits with nine strikeout and no walks.

The Bobcats finished with 12 runs on 12 hits, which included seven extra base hits.

Kelly Harper was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and two singles, while Makenna Hartline was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

In the second game, Morgan Crocker tossed a two-hitter to pickup the victory. She struck out five.

Brandywine had 15 hits in the nightcap with four doubles and a triple.

Sydney Carlson went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, while Crocker was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Michaela Hartline was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
