Police are searching for the person responsible for robbing a cash advance store at gunpoint in Niles Township Tuesday morning.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department said a black male armed with a handgun got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the Approved Cash Advance store, located inside the Bell Plaza shopping center at 1950 S. 11th St. around 10:25 a.m.

The suspect is being described by police as a black male in his early 20s, weighing approximately 175 pounds and standing around 6-feet tall with a medium complexion. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a baseball cap at the time of the robbery.

According to police, the suspect entered the business with a small handgun and demanded cash from two employees inside. The employees complied with his demands and the suspect fled the scene.

There were no injuries to the employees and police do not know at this time if the suspect fled from the scene on foot or in a vehicle.
