HANOVER, Indiana — Manchester University turned in a pair of third-place efforts on the track and in the field to highlight its 2015 season opener, March 28.

The Spartans, placing sixth on the team standings with 51 points, were bolstered by the sophomore distance running combination of Thomas Dean (Bremen, Indiana) and Riley Worl (Russiaville, Indiana). Dean ended third in the 5000 (15:42.79), while Worl wound up in the same slot in the 10,000 (33:08.94).

Senior Stephen Coble (Edwardsburg) picked up the remaining third-place finishes, throwing the discus 136-7 and the hammer 161-5. His hammer throw effort was the third-longest in school history.

Other efforts that aided in the team total came from senior jumps specialist Austin Finley (Kokomo, Indiana) (high jump – fifth – 5-10); freshman Derek Way (Fairland, Indiana) (long jump – fourth – 20-5); and senior Trae Bruce (North Manchester, Indiana) (400 meter hurdles – 59.33 seconds).
