Noelle Kraus scored a trio of goals as host Edwardsburg fended off Cassopolis 7-4 in a non-conference girls soccer match Monday afternoon.

“The game had a lot of attacking and a lot of porous defending,” Edwardsburg coach Brett Harring said. “Cassopolis countered well with their speed and Edwardsburg built well through the midfield. Both teams play very hard despite each missing a few key players. Entertaining to watch is you like goals.”

Kraus scored a pair of first half goals as the Eddies took a 3-1 lead.

She opened the scoring in the 13th minute off an assist by Sarah Ward and closed the opening half with a goal in the 40th minute off an assist by Rachel Boyles.

After Cassopolis’ Kortenei Suggs tied the score at 1-1 in the 36th minute, Jamie Roth scored in the 38th minute to give Edwardsburg a 2-1 advantage.

In the final 40 minutes, Brittany Udell scored a pair of goals for the Eddies, while Kraus and Anna Roberts also picked up goals. Makayla Metcalf assisted on the second Udell goal and Gabi Fonseca assisted on Kraus’ third goal.

Janye Butts scored all three goals for the Rangers in the second half.
