Roberta A. Moersch died Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Medilodge of Montrose.

Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial services are being planned for a later date. Contributions may be made to the Cass County Animal Shelter, PO Box 132, Cassopolis, MI 49031.

Roberta was born on July 14, 1933, to the late Allan and Mae (Lynch) Mitchell.

She married Richard A. Velat on Dec. 10, 1953. He preceded her in death. Roberta later married Richard Moersch on Dec. 7, 1972. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2001.

She was a member of Niles Westside Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Roberta was a master gardener. She was an accomplished knitter and enjoyed making her family hats, gloves and scarves. Roberta also enjoyed making prayer shawls. She raised poodles and was a very avid animal rights activist.

Roberta has a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are: Children: Sharyn (Walter) Roberts, Richard (Sherrie) Moersch, Debra (Dave) Fritz; Rebecca Gwinn, Richard (Cathy) Velat, Ruth Culhane (Rob), Russell (Pam) Velat; Special friend, Kathy Herbel; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; Close friends: LeAnna (Ray) Herbel and family, Sue Rose and Chris Penà; Her church family of Niles Westside Seventh-Day Adventist Church; many other loving family members and friends.
