BUCHANAN — The Buckteens committee has begun planning the 61st Alumni Reunion.

It will be held Sunday, June 14, at the Buchanan High School auxiliary gym. Doors open at 10 a.m. with announcements and potluck at 1:15 p.m.

Attendees should bring table service and a dish to pass. Cash donations will help keep the reunion ongoing.

The reunion will be welcoming the Class of 1975, which will be celebrating their 40th anniversary. The Class of 1965 will be honored for their 50th anniversary.

The first reunion was held in 1955 under the leadership of Lester McGowan with 25 members present from the early 1900s classes.

Invitations are emailed and mailed to all classmates who have been out of school for 40-plus years. Classmates not responding for three consecutive years are considered “inactive” and no further invitations will be sent.

The next committee meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at the Senior Center on Rynearson Street. Anyone interested in joining the committee is welcome to attend.
