One woman was transported to the hospital for emergency surgery following a shooting at Aaron’s Mini Storage in Niles Sunday afternoon, according to Berrien County Sheriff’s deputy Shawn Yech.

Officials from the Berrien County Mobile Crime Lab unit were brought in to investigate the scene following a shooting that took place around 3 p.m.

Police continue to investigate the scene and are not releasing the names of any suspects at this time.

The victim has now been identified as an African American female in her 30s.

A gold Impala was left on the scene of the crime, but police were unable to verify if the vehicle belonged to either the victim or the suspect.

Yech said more details would be provided later as the investigation develops.
