Leo Lawson, 95, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Tuesday evening, March 17, 2015, in Cass County Medical Care Facility in Cassopolis.

He was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Cassopolis, Michigan to William and Melinda (Coker) Lawson. Leo married Priscilla Jean Hill on Dec. 4, 1943, in Calvin Township, Michigan. After more than seventy-one years of marriage, she preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2015. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Vaughn; one grandson, Emerson Haines, III; two sisters, Ruby Lawson, Lela Coker; and three brothers, Gordon Lawson, Earl Lawson and Darwin Lawson.

Leo was a private and honorable man. He knew where he wanted to go, and where he would be when his life on earth was done. Leo wanted to see Jesus first and his beloved wife, Priscilla, next.

Leo will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by one daughter, Lois (Emerson) Haines of Niles; one son, Gordon (Sharon) Lawson of Warsaw; three grandchildren, Brenda (John) King of Elkhart, Lisa (Michael) Simpson of Niles, Megan Lawson of Elkhart; five great grandchildren, Montana Wojtys of Mishawaka, Dakota (Tyler) Haines of South Bend, Michael Simpson, Jr., of Niles, Brenden King of Elkhart, Breanna Haines of Niles; two great great grandsons, Avery Wojtys and Bentley Wojtys; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday, March 23, 2015 from 5 until time of service at 6 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Russell Haines officiating. Mr. Lawson will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Priscilla, in Calvin Community Cemetery in Calvin Township.
