Phillip Ross Mayhew, 75, of Niles, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born on Aug. 9, 1939 to the late Pearl and George Mayhew in Atkins, Arkansas. On June 8, 1962, he married Shirley Hickey at Calvary Temple in South Bend, Indiana. He was a United States Army Veteran and worked for Bendix for 37 years before retiring. Phillip was a deacon, super intendant, involved in children’s church and a Sunday school teacher at Michiana First Assembly of God, now Michiana Embassy on Main St. Niles. He was an avid golfer and most of all a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by wife of 52 years, Shirley; son, David Mayhew of Niles; daughter, Sandra (James) Horn of Buchanan; brother, William Mayhew of Lexington, Kentucky; uncle, Richard (Sue) Ross of Kalamazoo, Michigan; grandchildren, Jamie (Spencer) Conroy of Lafayette, Indiana, and Jessica (Ryan) Gianoulis of Temple, Georgia; great grandchildren, Eli and Madeline Gianoulis of Temple, Georgia; and nephews, Bryan (Cindy) Mayhew of Pipe Creek, Texas, and Michael (Janet) Mayhew of West Chester, Pennsylvania.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents, Pearl and George and brother, Kenneth Mayhew

Funeral services for Phillip will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan with Rev. John Schindler officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Buchanan. Visitation will be held the day before from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Hoven Funeral Home.
