Anne Mary Brelowski, 94, of Niles, Michigan died peacefully in her home at 8:38 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1921, to the late Florian and Anna (Hodal) Hradel. She was a graduate of the State Street Saint Mary’s Elementary School and Niles High School class of 1938. She served on the ’38 class reunion committee for many years.

She was also graduated from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, South Bend, Indiana class of 1944. She was part of the WWII Nurse Cadet Corps and furthered her nursing education at Indiana University-South Bend.

Anne was a lifelong member of Saint Mary Altar Rosary Society, a volunteer at the Christian Service Center Food Pantry and was a Parish CCD teacher for many years. She was a knowledgeable historian and enjoyed Niles area history.

The Brelowski’s were a Scouting family. “Whitie” served as Scoutmaster of Troop 79 (now #579) for 27 years. Anne was a Den Mother. She and their daughter designed and created costuming for the Camp Madron Indian Dancers and assisted in the Camp’s Thursday night pageant.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter “Whitie” Brelowski in 1993, and their son, Walter, Jr. in 1966, as well as six brothers, Joseph, John I, Frank, Julius, Luis, John “Bill” and a sister Ella Rose (Mrs. Richard).

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Zicafoose and son-in-law Kirby, of Omaha, Nebraska and granddaughter Kale, of Chicago, Illinois as well as a sister, Mary Tice (Mrs. Damon) of Goshen Indiana, one brother, Edward, of Niles, and 15 nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Anne Brelowski will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles by Rev. Alphonse Savarimuthu and Rev. David Otto. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the recitation of The Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
