Evelyn L. Schultz, 90, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, with her loving husband at her side.

She was born on Sept. 1, 1924, in St. Joseph to the late Gustav and Bertha (Fechner) Haak.

On November 29, 1943 Evelyn married the love of her life Raymond H. Schultz at a ceremony in St. Joseph.

Evelyn owned and operated The Dairy Queen on Pipestone for many years. She also worked as a supervisor for V.M. Corporation in Benton Harbor. Evelyn’s faith was very important to her; she was the first baby baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, where she attended most of her life and was active in the ladies aid. After moving to Niles, Evelyn became a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. In her free-time, Evelyn enjoyed needlepoint, flower gardening, was a talented cook. Evelyn was also a gifted archer and a member of Twin City Archers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; Fred, Rudy and Gustav Haak and a sister Martha Schultz.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of over 72 years Raymond H. Schultz of Niles, a niece Sally (Dave) Tibbitts of Niles, Sally’s children Bryan (Tricia) Tibbitts of Niles and Benjamin (Tammy) Tibbitts of Athens, Georgia as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

In keeping with Evelyn wishes a memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
