Big second half lifts Sturgis to win over Dowagiac

Dowagiac was outscored 27-13 in the second half in its 48-28 Wolverine Conference girls basketball crossover game Thursday night.
The Chieftains (4-16) were in the game throughout the first half, trailing just 10-7 after one and 21-15 at the break.
But the Trojans (9-11) behind the play of Rachel Anderson, turned the game into a rout in the third quarter.
Sturgis outscored Dowagiac 20-8 to start the second half and never looked back.
Anderson had nine of her game-high 17 points in the pivotal third quarter.
The Chieftains trailed 41-23 heading into the final eight minutes of the regular season.
Dowagiac was led by Jenesis Green who scored 10 points. Rayven Brown added eight.
