Betty Jean (Weiland) Cheney, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away Saturday, February 14,2015 at her daughter’s home in English, Indiana.

A Celebration of life service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street in Dowagiac with Pastor Terri Sachjen officiating. Visitation was held beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Betty was born July 26, 1927, in Dowagiac to Clarence and Elsie (Like) Weiland. She was united in marriage to Richard Cheney April 30, 1947 in Dowagiac. Betty’s calling in life was to care for her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching movies with them and working hours upon hours putting puzzles together and listening to music.

Betty is survived by her children; Linda Hart of Dowagiac, Judy Braniff of Modesto, California, Sharon (Bill) Keller of English, Indiana, Leroy Cheney of Dowagiac, MI. and Mark Cheney of Elkhart, Indiana, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two sons, Richard and Charles, and a grandson Dwayne.
