Barbara was born a country girl and remained a country girl her whole life. One of her family’s favorite memories was picking apples around her birthday every year. Barbara loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with plants. She pictured herself growing old and rocking on the front porch of her log cabin. She moved to Greenfield, Indiana to be with her daughter Kristina who respected her wishes and graciously cared for her in the last months of her life.

Barbara will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her children, Kevin J. Deming of South Bend, Indiana, Kolleen Deming Hurt of Clearwater, Florida, Kristina L. Deming of Greenfield, Indiana, Kirk W. (Mia) Deming of Largo, Florida. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Branden Benson, Stephanie (Travis) Williams, Christopher Deming and Dillon Deming; three great grandchildren, Nicole Benson, Travi Williams and Trinity Williams; and two sisters Donna Pence of Hawthorne, California, and Jeanette Baxley Espopinal of Yucapa, California.

The Deming children appreciate any contributions made in memory of their mother. They prefer that everyone “pay it forward” by donating to any local animal shelter, any cancer research or any type of drug and alcohol awareness group.

Barbara’s favorite song was Amazing Grace –

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,

that saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost, but now I’m found,

was blind but now I see.

With these words we lay our beloved Mom to rest.
