Doneta “Donnie” M. McCarthy, 90, of Eau Claire, Michigan passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph Michigan.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

She graduated from Watervliet High School in 1942. Following graduation, on July 19, 1942, she married Harold McCarthy at her parents’ home in Watervliet. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2007.

Doneta, along with her husband, owned and operated Blossom Hills Farm in Eau Claire. They were known for raising horses as well as growing fruits and vegetables.

Doneta enjoyed polka dancing, traveling, music, flowers and exploring any woods that she could find. The one thing that she loved more than anything was being a mother, whether it was her children or the dozens of children who fondly called her mom.

Doneta is survived by her children; Joan (David) Busby of Alma, Arkansas, Connie (Dennis) Irwin of Marcellus, Michigan, Susan Pultz of Dowagiac, Michigan, William (Cheri) McCarthy of Wildwood, Florida and Maryann McCarthy of Eau Claire, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a special friend Donald Milhan and a sister-in-law Shirley McCarthy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold and her son Patrick. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Sarett Nature Center in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
