St. Peters Masonic Lodge, in conjunction with Edwardsburg Eagle Lake School and the Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union will again host a Books for Bikes Program.

The kick off for the event is at 2:45 p.m. March 6. Awarding of the bikes will be at 2:45 p.m. May 29.

Six bicycles will be awarded to members of the third-grade class who read teacher-approved books. Each book read will earn one drawing entry. The more books the children read, the more chances they have to win.

The six bicycles (to three boys and three girls) will be provided by the Masonic Lodge. Bike helmets, along with a pizza party with drinks for the entire third grade at Eagle Lake will be graciously supplied by the community outreach efforts of the Greater Niles Community Federal Credit Union.

The program was initiated several years ago in memory of Marcia Barrs-Parrish, mother of Robert Parrish, Past Master of St. Peters Lodge. Her efforts instilled a love of reading that this program hopes to pass on.
