July 21, 1956 — Feb. 2, 2015

Sarah E. Champagne, 58, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Feb. 2, 2015.

Born July 21, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Earl Everett and Velma Fay (Cook) Edwards.

On Dec. 22, 1976, Sarah married the love of her life, Calvin Richard Champagne, whom she met while in culinary school. He survives.

Also left to cherish her memory are three sons, Calvin D. (Stacy) of Niles, Neal of Cassopolis and David Champagne of Kentucky; two sisters, Patty (Dwayne) Coplen of Niles and Carol (Robert) Sutherland of Cassopolis; and one brother, David (Megan) Edwards of Niles.

Sarah worked at the University of Notre Dame for 18 years, where she cleaned dorms. She loved the students and they loved her back. She was a gifted cook and enjoyed taking turns with her husband over whose night it was to prepare dinner. She was a caring wife and mother and will be greatly missed.

Cremation will take place with private services to be held at a later date.
