Jan. 20, 1934 — Feb. 9, 2015

Virginia Irene Anderson, 81, died Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, in Cassopolis.

She was born Jan. 20, 1934, in South Bend, Indiana to Eliza and Bernice (Mitchell) Hill, as she always said, “two blocks from Notre Dame.” She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Anderson; and two sisters, Nancy Beard and Susan Robinson.

Virginia was very friendly and outgoing and strong willed. She enjoyed visiting with people, helping others and telling everyone she met about Jesus. Virginia accepted Christ as a child and was baptized at a young age and got the Holy Ghost when she was ten years old. She considered herself an evangelist and only wanted to do the Lord’s will. She made a mean blueberry pie. Virginia loved everybody, especially her family; her children; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Virginia will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by two daughters, JoAnne Anderson of Cassopolis, Edna Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia; 10 sons, Larry (Linda) Hill of Grand Rapids, Roscoe Anderson of Grand Rapids, Philip (Patricia) Anderson of Grand Rapids, David (Anna) Anderson of Sterling, Illinois, Dennis (Monica) Anderson of California, Roger (Jennifer) Anderson of Cassopolis, Neal (Tracie) Anderson of Cassopolis, Michael (Michelle) Anderson of Cassopolis, Peter (Hope) Anderson of Cassopolis, Willie (Liz) Anderson of South Bend; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janette Belmont of Grand Rapids, Alice Hill of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in Chain Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 16853 Chain Lake St., Cassopolis. Mrs. Anderson’s remains will be laid to rest in Chain Lake Cemetery, Cassopolis.
