John ‘Jack’ E. Mander

John “Jack” E. Mander, 88, of Monastery Place, Northampton, Lehigh Township, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, in his home. He was the husband of Joan (Decker) Mander since Aug. 11, 1951. Born in Berrien Springs, Michigan, he was a son of the late Augusta J. and Hazel (Hartzell) Mander.

Jack was owner/operator of Local Energy Services, Inc. — Jack Mander, Northampton, for several years until retiring. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII, he participated in the Pacific Theatre and achieved rank of Pfc. An avid golfer, he was a member of Woodstone Golf Club, Lehigh Township, and Moseleurn Spring Golf Club, Fleetwood. Jack was well traveled, visiting South Africa, Poland, Hungary, Central America and Hong Kong.

Survivors include Jack’s wife, daughters Terry L. wife of Charles Elders of Auburn, Alabama, Laura J. Hartshorne of Northampton, sons Jerry L. of San Clements, California, David L. and wife Eleanor of Apple Valley, California, Thomas S. of Northampton, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial services were held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at Schister Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, Pennsylvania.
