Francis “Swede” Robinson, 98 of Jacksonville, Florida passed on Sunday Jan. 25, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by family, neighbors and friends.

Francis was born on Nov. 17, 1916, to the late Frederick and Nellie Robinson of Dowagiac. He married Mary Bond in 1945 in Kalamazoo, Michigan after serving 4 years with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. Francis was a fan of Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees never missing a game even through his last bat with the Yankees.

He was also an avid Notre Dame Football fan. After retirement from the U.S Postal Service in Dowagiac he shared his time between Dowagiac and Florida. In 2003 in became a full-time resident of Florida opting for the warmer weather. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Jacksonville, Florida

He was preceded in death by his wife Mary, sister Gertrude Carder and grandson Joseph Robinson. He is survived by his son Dan (Samantha) Robinson of Jacksonville, Florida, son Joseph (Debbie) Robinson of Ypsilanti, Michigan along with three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Jamie (Jason) Spenner of Berrien Springs, MI, Tyler Robinson of Paw Paw, Michigan and Christopher (Lauren) Robinson of Ypsilanti, Michigan and a step-granddaughter Asjah Dickens of Jacksonville, Florida.

Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Beaches Chapel. Memorial Services for Francis will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church 9800 Baymeadows Rd., Jacksonville, Florida on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.  Following cremation he will be laid to rest at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Dowagiac.
