Brandywine Community Schools has joined Facebook as school officials look for new and better ways to stay connected with the community.

“It seems to me that Facebook is a major news source for people nowadays rather than other traditional sources,” said Supt. John Jarpe. “People seem to be getting reminders and news straight from Facebook.”

Brandywine Community Schools can be found on Facebook.com by typing “Brandywine Community Schools” in the search box at the top of the screen. Find the Facebook page here.

Jarpe said the Facebook page went live last week after a lot of discussion with administrators, staff and board members about potential benefits and negatives.

“We thought it was time to join in,” Jarpe said.

Brandywine Community Schools will use Facebook to post about upcoming events and other things taking place within the district.

The district will also post pictures of things that are happening and links to articles written about Brandywine students, staff or programs.

Jarpe said building administrators will be the ones posting to the site.
